The second annual Sabroso festival hosted by Los Angeles’ greatest rock station KLOSFM: The Rock of Southern California was held Saturday, April 7 to sold-out crowds. With the breathtaking view of Dana Point’s Doheny State Beach, it was the perfect site for a fun-filled day of great beer and music.

Sabroso KLOS Fun Booth

Guests were treated to an all-day beach event of unlimited beer tasting of more than 100 craft beers, countless variations of rock and punk-influenced bands, and a wide assortment of tacos from all over the world. KLOS provided the best booth with tons of notable rock music, as only KLOS does, with an array of adult games such as giant Jenga and giant Connect 4 to add to the excitement of all the great brewing companies.

And speaking of great music one of the highlights of the beer festival was from the band Los Kung Fu Monkeys: “We’re a ska-punk influenced

band that have been together and playing from the Tijuana border and all of Southern California.”  The band consists of band members “Bang Bang” Bernie Leos – Lead Vocals; Hecky Verdugo – drums/vocals; “King” Carlo Rojas – lead Guitar; Octavio “Otto Octavius” De La Torre – Bass; Mani “Metals” Dominguez – Trombone; Eddie “The Kid” Cervantes – Trumpet; and T-Rex – rhythm Guitar.  The band has been playing the U.S. circuit for 20 years. The band’s influences stem from No Doubt to Sublime and the So Cal Punk Rock scene was a great fit for them at Sabroso Saturday.

One of the fan favorites came from Last Name Brewing, a craft brewery and tasting room in Upland, California which featured the Sub-Lemonal. A Lemon Lager which is a German pilsner brewed with local lemons and extra hops was a twisted delight for a beach festival.
